Search Engine Optimization - What Online Business Owners Need to Know

Search engine optimization is a calculated process designed to make your website search engine friendly. It also strives to increase your website's ranking for a given set of keywords on a search engine results page. Higher rankings equal more visitors to your website.

Search engine optimization includes both organic search results and pay-per-click ad campaigns. Organic results are the rankings given to a website for different keywords based solely on your website's relevance to the keyword phrase entered. Pay-per-click is a paid sponsorship for chosen keywords. A full-service SEO company will handle both aspects of search engine rankings.

An SEO company will also recreate a website to make it user-friendly. If a website is difficult to navigate or holds no real informational value, visitors will not return and search engines will not find your website worthy of higher ranking. An SEO company will focus on your website's

*Content

*HTML, including meta tags, title and internal links

*Inbound links and the accompanying anchor text

*Outbound links to other relevant websites

*Search engine-friendly site map

*Pay-per-click ad campaign

*RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed capability

*Selected keywords

*Blog development

*Keyword density and placement

*Content frequency

*Website graphics and 'alt' tags

*Sales copy

*Relevant content creation

It is possible for website owners to perform SEO for their own website if they are willing to invest the time required to learn the principles, write the HTML and revise the website. Link building alone can be a complex process, but with enough determination, individual business owners can do it. Quality information about SEO is available on the Internet for those willing to learn. Most online business owners opt for hiring an SEO company to manage their websites' rankings and development. The process may be costly initially, but the increased profit levels that result from higher rankings will pay for the service as long as the company is selling a quality product or service. Public demand must be present for a product or service to sell. Even the best sales copy cannot provide a sustained profit from a poor product or service.

Choosing a reputable SEO company can be challenging. Be sure to research the company, check with former and current clients if possible and ask to speak with a company representative before agreeing to a partnership. A solid SEO company will have client testimonials, professional recommendations and a money-back guarantee. Be sure to understand all aspects of the agreement and what will be expected of you in the SEO process before signing up. Ask about billing procedures and the company's privacy policy as well. You don't want your website or you e-mail address ending up on a third-party spammer's list.

Choose your company carefully and stay informed during the SEO process. Investing in a quality SEO company is money well spent on your online business.

10 Steps To Top 10 Rankings In Google

Most webmasters go totally "gaga" for top 10 rankings in Google. And for good reason, Google is the most dominant search engine on the net and will deliver the largest amount of traffic.

Even those webmasters who are fortunate enough to get No. 1 rankings for their keywords in all the three major search engines will tell you Google is the one that will deliver the majority of their traffic. Hands down.

More importantly, those same webmasters will also inform you, getting top 10 rankings in Google often means your site will prove profitable. Mainly because obtaining targeted traffic is usually your first obstacle in creating a viable online business. In other words, if you get top ten listings in Google for good searchable keywords, it is almost impossible not to earn money.

How To Proceed?

First, you must know the rudimentary basics of how keywords work. Keywords and keyword phrases are the exact words someone types into a search engine to find what they're looking for online. If you have a site on "dog training" then your goal is to get a top 10 ranking for the keywords "dog training".

Now if no one searches for "dog training" it would be a useless keyword, you would get no traffic no matter how perfectly your site is optimized for that keyword.

How Do You Know If A Keyword Is Good?

To find out, you have to do some keyword research on your particular keywords. Many professional online marketers use keyword research software like Brad Callen's Keyword Elite. However, you can also use the keyword suggestion tools supplied by Google Adwords or Overture. Try here:

http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/

Now if you check "dog training", you will find it receives around 4,469 searches each day. That's a lot of traffic but you must realize that it may be too good, or rather too competitive for your purposes, especially if have a new site.

Biggest Mistake When Choosing Keywords

The most common mistake most novice webmasters make is targeting keywords which are too competitive. You simply will not be able to compete or place for extremely competitive keywords. Well established sites and businesses with very deep pockets have the resources to completely dominate those keywords.

While it is not entirely futile nor a waste of time to concentrate your efforts on highly competitive keywords, you will have better success if you target low to medium competitive keywords such as "dog obedience training" with 285 searches per day.

Long Tail Keyword Marketing

Besides online marketers have discovered that longer keyword phrases are usually the most lucrative. These phrases deliver traffic which is better targeted and more likely to convert into a sale. "Dog hunting training" which gets around 100 searches a day will be more targeted than the general term "dog training" and if you have a site devoted to training hunting dogs then this keyword phrase may convert better for you.

Always keep this "Long Tail" keyword strategy in the back of your mind as you implement the following steps to achieve your own Top 10 Rankings in Google.

1. Make A Master Keyword List

Your first step is to make a master list of the keywords you wish to target. Obviously these should be closely related to the theme of your site. As you can see from the example above, it is best to choose low to medium competitive keywords. Check the keyword competition by seeing how many sites are listed in Google for that keyword. Webmasters also check the Google PageRank of the sites that hold the top 10 positions. If all those sites are PR6 and above it may be hard to get ranked high for your keywords.

2. Choose Related Keywords

Once you have your master list of keywords, find long tail related keywords to target. Again, check out the competition and daily searches made for each chosen keyword.

3. Use Quality Content For Your Keywords

Creating quality content should always be your main goal. Write for actual visitors who will see and read your content. First and foremost you must have good useful content that your visitors will use themselves and recommend to their friends or colleagues. Tie this quality content in with your chosen keywords. Use one keyword phrase per page.

4. Use Keyword In Domain Name, Title and URLs

Having your keyword in your domain name will score big points from search engines. Plus, each page of content should contain your keywords in the title & meta tags for that page. Most experts also suggest you have your keyword in the URL and use hyphens to separate your keywords. Although the author has gotten good results by using an underscore and htm in URLs. Example: www.yoursite.com/your_keyword.htm

5. Do On Page Optimization

Keyword ratio is a much discussed topic by SEO experts and many suggest you should have your keyword in the H1 or headline title of your page. Sprinkle your keyword and variations of it throughout your page. Don't over do it but make sure the robot/spiders will clearly discover what your page is about. Many webmasters make sure they include their main keyword in the first and last 25 words on their pages.

6. Use Traffic Modules

One technique that works extremely well in Google is clustering a closely related topic or subject into a distinct separate section on your site. For example, if you have a marketing site, you could create a whole section on article marketing where you would have 50 to 100 keyworded pages all relating to your subject. Writing articles, formatting articles, submitting articles, article software... place a keyword linked menu on each page to connect all your pages together.

Keep in mind, your main objective is to supply quality information to your visitors. One reason Google may favor this type of structure is because they want quality content returned in their SERPs.

7. Try Article Marketing

Article marketing is writing short informative articles on keyword topics related to your sites. You then submit these helpful keyworded articles to ezine directories on the web, when your articles are picked up by related sites you receive quality One-Way links. The higher the quality of your article, the more links you will receive.

Another ranking tactic to use, if you're just starting out your site will probably have a low PR rank and you will find it hard to rank for even modest keywords. That's why it's useful to take advantage of the higher PageRank of the major ezine directories. Your keyworded articles on these high PR sites will get picked up by Google and displayed in the top 10 rankings. Now the displayed URL will be the article directory site but the links in the resource box will be pointing back to your site. Over time this article marketing technique will raise your own site's rankings for those keywords. Simple but effective.

8. Anchor Text And One Way Links

Off page optimization is important in obtaining high rankings in Google. Getting quality One-Way links is very important. Anchor Text simply refers to "the underlined clicked on words" in your links. Most webmasters include their keywords in their anchor text as this tells the search engines exactly what the links are about.

9. Tags, Blogging And Web 2.0

Take advantage of Web 2.0 by using blogs, RSS feeds and the social bookmarking sites like Reddit and Digg. Try AddThis.com for a simple social bookmarking system. At the very least your site should have a blog and RSS feed attached to it as this is an effective way of boosting your keyword rankings.

Tags have become very important for getting higher rankings. Keep in mind, in free blogging software such as WordPress, categories will automatically be seen as tags. Blogger, which is owned by Google, now has a form where you put your keywords (tags) for each post you make.

10. PPC vs Organic Search

Of course, one of the fastest ways to get your links displayed on Google is to pay for them by using Google Adwords. Your ad and links will sit side by side with the organic link results. In Pay Per Click advertising you bid or pay so much per click for your keywords and you only pay when someone clicks your links. But smart marketers also know since you're getting millions of impressions advertising your products, acquiring name recognition and branding through PPC advertising can be a major side-benefit.

However, most webmasters would say that organic links (SERPS) will return better traffic than paid links or advertising. In most cases, this may be true because Google's organic rankings are becoming more respected and more trusted by users. They simply carry more weight with surfers.

This makes it even more beneficial to obtain top 10 rankings for your keywords in Google. Depending on the competitiveness of your chosen keywords reaching the first page listing or even the favored number one spot is well within any webmaster's reach. Just go for it. The rewards are well worth your efforts.

Article Marketing Is Extremely Low Cost Method

Article marketing is an extremely valuable method of getting traffic to your website. If you are not familiar with it, article marketing is basically the process of writing articles and submitting them, along with links back to your website, to article reprint directories on the internet.

Almost everyone who owns their own websites will visit article reprint directories on a semi-regular basis in order to find new content to place upon their sites. When you have the opportunity to submit articles to such directories, you are granting explicit permission for others to employ your writing on their site, for free. The only concession is that the website owners must typically include an "about the author" blurb following every article that they use. This can include your biographical information and perhaps a link back to your website.

When your article gets used on another website, everyone who reads the article sees your author biodata and the links back to your website. A good article may wind up on hundreds of websites, where many people can read it. You can submit your article to different directories.

Article marketing is a great way to send visitors to your website without putting out any money to do it. This can help your company and your website grow. You will become well known and respected by a great number of people in your target range and attract many hits to your site.

The goal of article marketing is to make readers go to an article of yours which is posted on your site. When they arrive there, you have a much greater opportunity to communicate the remainder of your sales pitch. If you really comprehend the working of search engine optimization, you can word your copy so as to achieve a significantly superior level in the listings of search results.

Article marketing is extremely low cost, and in many cases, totally free. When people find what they want and are impressed with what you've written, you become an expert in their minds, which translates to a high level of credibility. Unique articles with unique content also help to increase the traffic to your site.

Copy that is meant to generate more internet traffic to a specific site should have lots and lots of buzzwords. They make the copy more effective, and they affect the article's rating on the most popular search engines. The trick is to choose the proper buzzwords. However, if a site has a lower rating, it really doesn't need as many of those terms.

There are several ways to increase traffic to your website through your articles. One way is by creating articles that include easy links back to your site. Submitting articles to directories and newsletter publishers is also a good idea. Articles that contain unique content are always wanted for online use. Selling your articles for use as E-books can also send a lot of traffic your way.

A new and increasingly popular way to increase traffic to your site is the use of article marketing. This new marketing method involves writing unique articles with content that draws readers using search engines. The content should contain many key words that the web search engine will pick up. This will increase the frequency of your articles coming to the attention of the online readers. The article should also have unique content to draw the readers. It can be filed with one of the article directory services so people can see it easily. Once they click on it, they are one their way to your site.

How to Establish a Budget for SEO

SEO (search engine optimization) is an incredibly young and volatile marketing realm. As a marketing manager with great expectations for SEO, you likely feel intense pressure to generate a great ROI, but you also feel dizzy from the possibilities and risks inherent to any internet marketing adventure.

Before you and your accounting team pull out your calculators and Excel spreadsheets, you MUST organize your strategic marketing goals. If you don't spell out these goals explicitly - and harmonize them with your vision for your company - you will burn up your investment and fast. Think of building a budget for SEO like designing a house. Unless and until you select the right neighborhood and style of house (vision) and map out the architectural skeleton (strategy), you will be hammering nails (budgeting tactics) essentially at random. And this will inevitably lead to a big mess.

That said, let's get down into the nitty gritty and discuss SEO budgeting tactics that work.

Three ways to gauge your project's budget:

  1. base your numbers on a (successful) past campaign that's similar to yours.
  2. aim to capture a specific share of your SEO market, and work backwards (based on figures published by competitors) to determine what SEO resources to deploy and where.
  3. designate a target percentage of total sales you wish to achieve though SEO marketing and work backwards to make this figure a reality.

What percentage of your total marketing budget should go into SEO internet marketing:

if you're selling pharmaceuticals or herbal products, you may want to go as high as 25%.

the average (across industries) is somewhere around 6%, but this figure will likely grow as SEO gains prominence as a marketing tool.

If you advertise primarily in the brick-and-mortar realm and/or have an unusual online demographic, your percentage could dip to 2% or lower.

Other important info to keep in mind:

nearly 90% of all business traffic generated from Google, Yahoo, and the other search engines comes from organic listings.

every month, nearly 6 billion search engine queries are made.

The top three search returns generate over 91 percent of traffic.

The Road To Riches Through Search Marketing - SEO, PPC And Viral Marketing

The Internet has the ability to level the playing field between small and big business with regard to capturing market share. Search marketing - SEO, PPC and viral marketing is the most effective and least expensive method of driving traffic to a web site. Any type of business with a web site can participate.

Trends in Search Engine Marketing

North American advertisers spent US $9.4 billion on search engine marketing in 2006. This represented a 62% increase over the prior year and an 750% increase from 2002. The reason for this growth has to do with the explosive growth of the Internet worldwide - a trend that has impacted every industry in every developed country, producing billions of dollars in revenue for companies with a strong Internet presence.

Search Engine Marketing for Increasing Web Site Traffic

Search engine marketing (SEM) refers to listings and links to web sites that are produced on the pages of a search engine directory (like Google, Yahoo or MSN) when a keyword search term or phrase is entered. There are two types of results that are produced. Listings at the top and/or right column are sponsored results from advertisers who pay each time someone clicks on their ad and visits their web site. This is called pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. The largest SEM vendors for sponsored searching are Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter.

The second type of search results are the free organic listings that are produced because of content and code on the web site that match criteria determined by the search engines- essentially the search engines look for keywords, relevant content, meta tags, alt tags, back links and traffic flow. The process of getting web pages to match these criteria is called search engine optimization or SEO. The closer the site matches the search engine's criteria, the better the ranking order for that web site. If a web site is not found on the first or second page of search results, it is unlikely to be found and result in traffic. Any number of pages on a web site may be optimized and found through the search engines. There are hundreds to thousands of search engines. The majority of searches however come through Google, Yahoo and MSN. Each search engine uses different rules or algorithms for determining ranking order. These rules can and often do change over time. That is why it is an ongoing process to achieve and maintain a good page rank with SEO. When SEO includes a presence in forums, blogs, social networks, and multimedia directories, the result is viral marketing - this is where traffic and results get very exciting!

Best Results Through SEO and Viral Marketing

A good SEO program will not just produce a high page rank for keywords, it will also drive traffic from a particular target market to web site pages from many different sources. These may include links from relevant web sites valued by the search engines, forums, blogs, social networks, multimedia directories and online press releases. The sum total of all of this marketing produces a viral effect resulting in high search engine rankings and explosive web site traffic.

17 critical components for SEO with viral marketing results:

1. Keyword research and analysis to determine keywords that are searched in significant numbers and relevant to the web site's target market.

2. Incorporating an XML site map so that search engines can crawl the web site easily.

3. Incorporation of informative content-rich web pages to the existing web site based on targeted keywords.

4. Defining keyword-rich Titles and Meta tags for each and every page of the web site in order to make every page search engine friendly.

5. Hand submitting the web site to niche directories to get valuable one way links.

6. Writing and developing keyword-rich articles focused on targeted keywords.

7. Creating a blog for the web site and submitting it to blog directories and blog search engines.

8. Submitting articles to leading E-zines and other informative sites to get one way links along with relevant traffic towards the web site.

9. Exchanging links with other relevant web sites to increase back links for the web site.

10. Participating in niche Blogs & Forums to get quality back links and traffic.

11. Creating a presence in Social Book marking sites.

12. Creating a presence in Social Networking sites.

13. Participating in Video Sharing using video that showcases the web site's mission, purpose, brand and unique selling position.

14. RSS feed creation and submission to various RSS directories.

15. Press release creation and submission.

16. Including powerful and effective marketing copy in all content developed for the SEO and viral marketing program.

17. Tracking of results and making modifications based on traffic patterns, lead generation results and sales conversion data.

A plain vanilla SEO program that optimizes web pages will produce limited results. I have personally seen companies charge big bucks and stuff keywords into pages that no human being would read. They may get attention from the search engines but people will be off that site in a heartbeat. The bottom line is effective marketing copy in everything that is produced for the project.

Most SEO companies do not include many of these viral marketing concepts in their program. Using this list of criteria when shopping around for a company to do your SEO will help you to get the most value for the money you spend. Done well and responsibly managed, SEO and viral marketing can be your most productive marketing investment.

Link Swaps and Online Directories

In this article we show you how to promote your web site for free using reciprocal links and online directories.

Reciprocal Link Meaning

Firstly, what does 'reciprocal link' mean?
Reciprocal link means that a web site links to yours and you link to theirs. This type of link exchange is most often free since both sides have something to gain. Whilst there are many reciprocal link exchange services online, it is simple enough to do yourself and thereby save money.

Building reciprocal links for your online company or business is necessary if you are going to get any free traffic to your web site.

Promoting Your Website With Links

Whether you want to promote your small or work-at-home-based internet business or indeed any type of web site, your first call should be link trading. The beauty of link trading is that it is a free, simple and very effective way to promote your business which is recognised by Google and therefore can increase your position in a related search.

Where many small business web site owners go wrong in this area is that they desperately gather every possible link; this may seem a good idea because your name will be 'everywhere' but, alas, it is not a good idea because if you link to a bad site Google will lower your place in a related search...Google and other related search engines count for most of the traffic to your web site so play fair!

Links from related web sites with high Google Page Rank are the best way to promote your web site for free so long as you play by the rules:

Here are a few tips on what Google looks for in determining your 'Page Rank' and ultimately your place in the results of a related search :

1. Links from Blogs and press releases are likely to increase the traffic to your web site.

2. Links from 'link trading farms' and 'banner exchanges' are likely to decrease your rank. The reason being that your are getting a link from a web site which has a subject not related to your own.

3. Links from .edu, .gov and .org web sites add 'importance' to your web site and will help your search engine position.

4. Links to your site using some of your keywords.eg.'Devon web design by www.icre8.ws' are worth far more than an animated banner.

5. Links from a related web site that has a good Google Page Rank are worth their weight in Gold!

Finding Link Partners.

Go to Google and type link:http://www.sitenamehere.com replacing the 'sitenamehere' with the domain name of your competitor. You will now be shown a list of web sites that link to your competitor; visit each one of these sites and assess their Page Rank - you want to exchange reciprocal links with the highest ranking sites if possible.

You can find out a Page Rank by installing the Google Toolbar. If you'd rather not install the Google toolbar you can get a nice, simple program from www.RobsEbooks.com that will tell you the Google PR of any web address you type into it.

How To Request A Reciprocal Link

Once you have found a site with good PR (start with sites with PR2 and work your way up the ranks as yours increases), request a link trade with a nice email such as the one below:

Dear Colleague

I am writing to request a link exchange on behalf of www.sitename.com, a new online store that focuses on the sportswear market and offers discounts of up to 50% and free shipping worldwide.

I believe your web site would appeal to the same visitors as ours and ask you to consider linking to us at www.sitename.com I would appreciate you letting me know whether you are accepting new link and / or when the link has been posted.

For your convenience I have added a title, description, URL and keywords below.

Thank you for your time.

Online Directories - Be Found For Free!

Another way to promote your web site for free is to get listed in related online directories. To find out which directories you should list in, go to Google and type the subject of your web site followed by 'directory'.

For the best results in your reciprocal link building campaign, it is advised you submit to the top 10 results.

How To Add A Link To Your Website

Not all links are reciprocal - some online directories do not require a link from your site to theirs=easy and free ! However, most links are reciprocal which means you will need to add a link to their web site on your own. For persons who want to trade a lot of links, we suggest you create a seperate 'Links' page or contact us for a quote

Adding one or two links to a page is relatively simple and can be achieved by following the instructions below :

1. Cut and paste the code provided by your link partner. Typical code looks something like this : www.icre8.ws Affordable Devon web design

2. Once you have copied the code you need to add it to your web site. To do this, open the folder where you store your web site files and locate the page you want the link to appear on. Make a copy of this page in case you make an error.

3. Right click the page file and 'Open With - Notepad'. You will now see a lot of 'funny writing' which is HTML - the coding language of a web site. Scrolling through the HTML of your page, find a suitable place to paste the link then click 'Save'.

4. Now double-click the file and you will see where you have added the link (if it looks strange you have added the link in an incorrect place and need to move it).

5. Finally, upload the changes to your web site so that the ammended page appears online. This is done by 'FTP' which you can learn about at www.ftpplanet.com

3. Take a close look at how the keywords in your meta tags stack up against the keywords inside your site. This is very important. Your meta tag keywords need to also be present in the content of your site. It is also important to create links within your site using your keywords. Putting some of your keywords in bold can also help.

Article Marketing Strategies Revealed

Article Marketing has emerged very fast as one of the best methods to design a successful business online, especially when your resources are limited.

Take care to maintain the quality of your write-ups. If you need to successfully come up with a sound article, you must write only good quality articles that readers will be eager to check out all through.

One of the major features of your article should be the title. Think carefully about a title that will grab the attention of your readers immediately. Your title is the marketing tool for your article. More often than not, your article will be indexed together with a bunch of other articles. Generally people skim through the titles only of the articles and decide by that which one to read up. If your article begins with an interesting title then more and more readers will get hooked to it. If your title is boring and uneventful, few people will stop by read your write-up.

A good introduction to your article shows the quality of the rest of the article. Inform the reader what is in your article for them and how they will benefit from reading it.

When the introduction is over, come to a new paragraph and then start the main body of your article. Divide it into separate paragraphs from every point you want to talk about. Having paragraphed points makes it comfortable to the eyes and mind to grasp the meaning of them and makes for an attractive presentation. The main gist of this paragraph should contain between three and ten points that you wish to cover. It is not necessary to cover all the points that you are aware of on the subject.

End the article with as good a conclusion as the introduction. Review the points you discussed in the foregoing paragraphs and the benefits they will receive if they follow your suggestions.

When the article is all done and ready, scan it through a spelling and grammar checker so that before submitting your article you are sure that your article is perfect which will save you the time to laboriously go through each and every word for manual confirmation.

Not much is needed to get started with article writing and probably by now you already possess the fundamental tools that are needed. This can result in a profitable online business when approached in the correct fashion. Many easy steps are out there to open the avenues for striking business opportunities through excellent articles.

You can begin by offering your articles for sale. Several blogs, websites, and news sites regularly need new articles for content. You can consider writing articles on subjects you are competent in and sell them to blog owners and web masters. However, it is obvious that the articles you write should confirm to certain quality standards if you wish to sell them at the price your article deserves. Article Marketing Advanced Tips for Success

Article marketing is my primary method of traffic generation and profit creation. Yes, article marketing is extremely powerful, and one of the greatest things about it is that it seems to have no bounds.

Now, I realize that it probably does, but when you realize that probably only 100 people in the world make a full time income online, contrasted to 1000s in other internet marketing niches, there is a lot of room for growth and new entrants.

What are some of my advanced secrets for article marketing success?

1) I write articles prolifically. I believe that there is power in numbers, and I believe in massive action. I know how many subscribers my average article nets me, and I know the profit level of my average article-generated subscriber. This is one of the most important numbers in my business.

2) I currently only use one article directory for all my article submissions. I have done extensive testing and have found that like 95% of all my traffic came from that one site, when I used to post to around 100 different article directories. Another note on that: testing is critical to everything you do. If you are not testing, you are missing out on profit opportunities, for sure. You just have to test. When you test, you often find ways to make things work that no one else has discovered, and you also find out that some things dont work as well as the experts would have you believe.

3) I write my articles aggressively. The only reason I write is to get people to click through and be prequalified to like me when they get there. Thats it. Forget about trying to please everyone I dont care who closes this article without clicking, I only care that the ones that click through genuinely like me and want more information.

I also believe in intense targeting when you write your articles articles are not read by people looking for general information, in my opinion, on the other hand, they are read by people who need specific information. So write your articles to the person who needs something specific today, and they will respect you and look for you tomorrow when they need more information.

By the way, just a note on the internet marketing niches when you specialize, you eliminate the tire kickers. Let me explain if you are marketing to the general public about starting an internet business, you get everyone who is just getting started and only like 5% of them ever make any money. And if they are not making money online, most of them are not going to continue to spend it. Sure, they will buy the first course or two, but I am looking for the long-term customer. The person who gets on one of my specialized niche lists, they probably already have an online business and are actively spending money to promote their business. I am going after a piece of that pie, rather than trying to create new believers in internet marketing.

So I obviously believe there is more money to be made in the internet marketing niches, and the same thing applies: write targeted information to get the best subscribers, the ones who are actively working the business and are spending money on tools. Beginners arent generally spending money, and when you write beginner articles or general articles, that is who you are targeting by default someone who is just looking, hoping and wishing they could get started online, but hasnt spent the money to do it. Let someone else convince people to get started online, and you go for the people who are already spending it.

6 Quick Steps to SEO

SEO stands for search engine optimization, and is a way of making sure you end up in the top ranks of a search that your customers might perform. You can take steps to ensure that you are in the top rankings, and here are 6 quick steps to good SEO.

Step 1: Choosing a Domain Name
Try to get one that uses the search term your clients will enter in the search engine. Use suffixes, like .org, .net, etc., if yours is already taken. If you already have a name, use a secondary domain name with the search term that links up with the primary site.

Step 2: Good Content Writing
SEO content includes those keywords and key phrases mentioned above that your customer will enter in the search engines. Make sure you use enough, but dont oversaturate--2% is optimum.

Step 3: Metatags
The metatag is found in your websites coding, and should include the search term once again. SEO rankings are improved a lot by this practice.

Step 4: Backlinks
The number of people who link to your site tells the search engines that your site is important. However, dont trade links--search engines can see through that practice--and use only sites that are relevant to your business or organization.

Step 5: Keyword Limitations
Make sure each page has only one or two keywords. If you need more, put them on other pages and again, keep them isolated. This prevents dilution of keywords and poor writing flow.

Step 6: Use Clear Writing
Search engines insist that the wording be clear and understandable. Sometimes people just throw down a bunch of keywords and it makes no sense. They may be at the top of the rankings for a few minutes, but the search engines will pull them down fast.

Article Marketing - Write for Quality or Quantity?

This is a question that is floating around many article marketing and internet marketing forums and it is very hard to find a clear answer. Should you be writing articles for quality or concentrating on quantity? Read on to find out if article marketing is better with quality articles or the quantity of articles.

Let us look at the quality of articles first. Writing for quality will allow you to create unique content that readers will want to finish reading and will be helped by your article. When you write for quality content you are looking to help your reader, but you have to be careful to leave them wanting more or you will lose out on what you are really after, which is traffic to your website.

So, now that we have mentioned a little about traffic let us move on to writing a quantity of articles. When you write articles for quantity you are looking to drive traffic to your website. You are trying to drive as much traffic as possible to your websites and you are not as concerned with how good the articles are. This is a type of writing that allows you to pump out articles like a machine. They are usually very much structured around keywords and you are more concerned about your ranking on search engines than how good your writing is.

Which one is better, Quality or Quantity? The best answer to this question is that you should combine the two methods. Never write specifically for quantity because your readers will not want to read your articles, therefore, they probably will not finish them and click to your website. You do not want to get too caught up with the quality though because you don't want to spend hours upon hours on each article.

Make sure you write for your readers and give them something that they want. Answer a burning question, give them a handful of good tips, or define something that needs to be defined. If you don't give your readers anything they won't read the entire article and won't click through to your site. You also have to make sure you leave them wanting more so that they will click through to your website.

Writing for quality is a good way to create good articles, but you need to also write for quantity because it is a numbers game and the more quality articles you have out there the better chances you will have to create a ton of traffic. So combine quality and quantity writing in your article marketing and you will see better success than just writing a few articles that are very good or putting out a ton of junk articles.

Successful Art To Making Money On The Net - Part 1 Of 3

If you are looking to make some money off the net, first you must plan.

THE PLAN

Planning is the essential backbone to any goal. Before I even think of executing any idea, I must have a plan in place before making that goal a success.

PLANNING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL TO MASTER IN ORDER TO MAKE ANYTHING ON THE NET

With that being said, how do we start our plan to making money on the net???

Ask yourself this, What product or products am I going to sell??

In order to know what product or industry to promote or sell, we must make a list of what are called "keywords".

So lets break this down to laymens terms, in order to make money on the net, first I must start a plan and find a product. How I find a product is through"keywords" - called keyword research.

Keyword research is simply finding a product.

Undesirable SEO and What to Do With a Small Marketing Budget

I got a lead through our website the other day with an interesting comment attached. The prospect was requesting specific information on pricing for our services but as you can read below, they simply copied the information from what another SEO provided them.

I am just starting an internet business and I am looking for the following services. Please let me know if these are services you can provide and if so an estimated cost. Thanks

1. Website Analysis to check the current status of your website.
2. Meta analysis and recreation of clients tags and keywords.
3. Link popularity program - Increase the amount of pages that link to you.
4. Automated Submissions to 1090 search engines for site indexing twice a month.
5. Manual Submissions to the search engines that don't accept automated submissions.
6. Submissions Report on the 1st and 15th of each month showing the progress of the website. "upon request"
7. We build you a Site Map for your website which helps all of your pages to be indexed into the search engines. The site map will also be submitted to 1090 search engines for site indexing twice a month.

My first response was to simply hit the delete button. If these guys were looking at a $20 junk SEO service then they were not going to be anywhere in the ballpark for the professional search engine marketing services we provide.

I could go through this line by line and pick it apart, but I won't simply because it's already obvious to anybody who knows anything about true optimization. Suffice to say for those who don't, that almost all of the "services" mentioned above range from mostly useless to completely useless. Link building is important, but without knowing more about their methodology, there is no way to know if there is value in that service. I suspect not, based on their "submissions to 1090 search engines." That's a service that is not even worth the digital space it takes up to be able to read it. It's clear that this is not an SEO that knows anything about what SEO really is.

Unfortunately, there are far too many of these faux SEO providers out there. The knowledge of these SEOs differ, some know enough to talk a good game, others know enough, or are good enough salespeople, to be able to sell a sham service. In either case, these are the SEOs that give the industry a bad name.

I went ahead and called this prospect and I'm glad I did. No, I wasn't able to sell them our service and hadn't expected too, but I may have prevented yet another business owner from being turned off to the SEO industry as a whole. What I was also able to do was to provide some education as to what they can and should do now and later in regards to promoting their website properly.

The bottom line for them was they didn't have a lot of money to invest in promotion. Now, frankly, I think anybody who thinks they have a strong business idea needs to do whatever they can to secure the financing necessary to market their website properly. But it's also true that there are many things that can be done to get your business model working with little or no cash.

Since this no-longer-a-prospect's website was new I mentioned to her that new sites almost always take a long period of time to start ranking well. She can get on Yahoo and MSN relatively quickly in some cases but with Google, it will be a long road. What she needs to do now is to generate some exposure. Paid ads are the quickest and easiest way to do this.

I have also suggested paid ads to other potential prospects that were unsure whether or not they had a viable business model. First of all, unless you are sure, it is probably best not to pour money into expensive, long-term contracts. Paid ads via Google and Yahoo are an ideal means to start producing traffic to your site and see if your business model (and website) works. If not, change the model or pack it in.

If you have a good business model, the exposure you gain from Google and Yahoo through paid ads will not only start producing income (if not a profit) but will also start getting people to your site. The more people that see it and like it, the more likely you are to start generating some natural links. Links are the first step in the process of getting search engines to your site to build search engine rankings.

Another thing I told her she could do is to write and submit articles to article banks. If well-written and informative, these articles will likely be re-distributed on a number of websites, and if you create a good bio, they'll link to your site as well. Those who read the article may visit the site and those who visit the site may link to it, creating even more incoming links.

Do this for six to twelve months and you now have site that has "aged" enough that a professional optimization campaign will be able to achieve some good rankings. It may take significantly longer to rank well for competitive phrases, but you should be able to target and rank well for enough keywords to produce an additional stream of targeted traffic, thereby boosting sales.

With any business, research is the key. One in ten businesses fails (online and off), largely because of a lack of funds and lack of research. If you are undercapitalized, research is even more important because this will help you make wise decisions as to where you put your money. It will also educate you enough to be able to identify which services are scams and which are legitimate.

I provided this prospect some knowledge that I hope will help guide her to build a successful business. And, since I was honest, willing and able to provide this information, who knows... maybe she will become a client at some point in the future.

The Article That No One Wants To Read

Are you putting in time and effort writing articles but having little success with anyone wanting to read it?

Article marketing is still marketing. It is not writing anything about anything and then expecting people to fall onto it and have the deep burning desire to read it all the way though without prompting.

Headlines Are Crucial

I still see so many articles that are being uploaded with three or four words that is a simple statement rather than a juicy enticing headline. What you have to say is not as important as the benefits of what you have to say.

Either pack your headline with benefits or make it so intriguing that they can't hep but to open it. Did the headline I use for this article work on you and create enough curiosity to click through and read? Yes, of course it did or you would not be here reading it.

You would probably not be reading it if I had of chosen a different headline such as...

No Visitors To Your Articles?

Or a basic one like...

How To Write An Article

I created intrigue with the headline to promote human curiosity. I worked with the basic laws of psychology. You wanted to know what this article was that nobody wants to read. It got you to the body of the article so that I could share my message with you.

Always try and come up with a few headlines for your articles. Chances are it will be the forth or fifth one that looks better than the other and will be more successful.

Remember the article directories have a huge database of articles to chose from. The first point of selling your article is the headline. Don't let down yourself by writing an amazing article that could benefit so many, by slapping on a heading that will lack motivated response.

Article marketing is alive and well and if you get the headline right, your 75% down the road to success.

Article writing is very successful in driving traffic to your website. A great new business model to promote through article marketing is Pay Per Play It's free to join and you get paid for every visitor that lands on your website. http://www.EveryVisitorIncome.com

Niche Marketing Explained - Understanding All About Niche Marketing

What exactly is niche marketing?

Niche marketing is marketing to a select group of potential customers inside a much larger customer base. This is often done because there is a need that is not being addressed by providers who target the larger customer base. In other words, there is a demand for something that isn't being supplied. If you can satisfy that demand, you have a potential market waiting to pay you for what you can offer them.

The Internet Marketing niche has many sub-niches

For example, inside the target market of Internet marketing, there are many niches, including search engine marketing, PPC marketing, Google AdWords, article marketing, bum marketing, and more. Those who write eBooks on just Internet marketing don't directly address these niches.

You could further refine those to include even more specific niche markets. For example, you could fill the niche market of PPC marketers who just use Google AdWords or just use Yahoo Search Marketing, etc.

As these niche markets have grown, so have their desire for information and resources that they can directly use for their businesses, which are not satisfied by those who just target the large Internet marketing market. Those businesses that primarily focus on article marketing are not going to be very interested in PPC marketing, just like those who primarily use Google AdWords are not going to be very interested in article marketing.

That's why there are marketers who market directly to niches - they can better satisfy what those niche customers are asking for because those niche marketers directly address the problems facing the niche target markets.

The over saturation of a niche

Niche marketing has become one of the primary ways to market over the last few years because many are starting to realize that Internet marketing is becoming over saturated with Internet marketers and their products. This makes it much harder to earn profit from the large Internet marketing market. Those who are new to the Internet marketing world will have an even harder time breaking through into the Internet marketing market because there are many established Internet marketers who have very loyal customer bases that trust those specific marketers and their products.

New Internet marketers can better compete or even dominate a niche because there is little to no competition in that niche. The more you can target a specific niche, the better the chance you will have of carving out a profitable piece of that niche and/or even becoming the main provider to that niche. This is how new Internet marketers especially can make it big online.

Niches can be discovered in just about every market

Many Internet marketers make nice sums of income online by targeting different niches, some not even related to each other. They'll do the necessary research to determine whether a profitable niche market exists for a product/service they can supply, select a domain name, build a website, and start marketing it to the niche target market.

However, niches don't have to deal directly with marketing. Niches can be carved out of almost any possible market, whether it would be dogs, cats, plants, electronics, writing, cars, etc.

For instance, talking about electronics, you can have niches that involve computers, stereo systems, televisions, MP3 players, DVD players, etc. Furthermore, you can narrow those niches down even further; for computers, you could have desktops and laptops. You could break those down even further - with laptops, for instance, you could have whether they utilize Centrino technology or not, as well as what computer brand they use and what processor powers them.

You can also limit niches to other factors involving the target market, such as age, occupation, income, place of residence, etc.

For instance, you can target teenagers who want MP3 players. You can make your offer more appealing to that market by including free music downloads of the most popular young artists today when they purchase the MP3 player from you.

Research your way to discover new niches

As you can see, virtually any market can be broken down into smaller markets, or niches, by way of the product, the target market, or both. The key is to finding out what needs are not being satisfied by companies and websites that are already out there and then providing a valuable offer that that niche target market will be eager to purchase. With an almost unlimited number of niche markets, and more appearing every day, niche marketing will likely not become saturated anytime soon.

Make Money Using Easy Article Marketing Techniques

Unless you are very new to the business, or live in a cave, you've probably heard of article marketing. There are a number of advantages in using article marketing for your online business. It is a very effective technique to advertise a website, promote a product, build traffic to your site, increase back links to improve a website's ranking, and make money online. And the best thing about article marketing, it's FREE!

How do you participate in article marketing? It is easy. Write short, 300 to 500 word articles and submit them to 10 to 25 of the largest article submission directory sites. (You can find these sites by doing a search.) Include an author's resource box in each article you write. Your resource box should include 2 or 3 links to the websites or products that you are promoting. As people see your links, they will click on them, visit the site or products that you are recommending, and make you money.

To get the most benefit from your resource box, your article should be related to the sites or products that you are promoting in your resource box. For example, if your website is about bird watching, you would benefit most by writing an article on "Finding Red-Headed Woodpeckers In The Wild." People who are interested enough to read the article will also have an interest in seeing what you have to offer on your bird watching website. There is a good chance that many of them will click on your links and visit your site.

On the other hand, if your site is about bird watching and your article is about the newest rock group, few rockers will click on your links. You should always make sure that your links are closely related to the information in your article. This is the way to maximize the amount of money you make through article marketing.
